Before starting Grumo I created a few sites for fun. One of them was called WorryPad, a website where anyone can share their worries and get cheered up by means of a big “Cheer Up” button.
I thought it would be great to have a place online were people would help each other feel better when feeling sad, lonely, or depressed.
At that time I had a few worries of my own, I did not have much money, I was going to get two very expensive tooth implants, I was afraid Spain was going to screw up again in the World Cup, etc, etc.
So I sat down, fleshed out the concept and two weeks later I had finished a Tweeter-Stack Overflow crossover mutant called WorryPad were the more you cheered up people the more karma points you won.
Two years later I look at it and laugh at what utter failure it was.
I mean, most of the worries were bogus worries posted by me.
Because I was the only user, I had to cheer up my own worries and comment on them.
I created 3 separate accounts so new people thought there was people already engaged in the website in an attempt to get them hooked.
Well, to this day, I get random people sharing their worries. Here are some of them:
Every time someone worries on WorryPad I cheer them up and for some inexplicable reason that makes me feel good.
I am sure the cheerup receiver feels a little bit better and that makes my little side invention all worth it.
Do you have any worries? well, now you know where to unload them.. WorryPad!
