New Grumo Student Demo Video: AVforPlanners.com

Grumo Student Mike McAllen just launched a new startup called AVforPlanners and after taking our demo video animation course he produced this gem of an animation to explain his startup:

Mike was kind enough to share a bit with us about how he produced his first demo video:

How long did it take to put together?
It took me a few months. I worked my way through the videos on scripts and storyboarding, I wrote several scripts with different plots. Then I ran them by Jon my partner for avforplanners, my wife, and several other friends. Then searched for an animator.

Your script is very fun and well written, how did you get inspired?
I tried to look at what our company does and what I could compare it to. Basically watching the other Grumo videos and stealing what I could. 🙂 I then tried to twist the story down and down to close to one minute.

How did you record the voice over?
I own a production company and also have a podcast so I have done down and dirty recordings. This one was sent to a voice over professional. I tried to get my wife to do it but she was too busy.

What was the hardest part?
The stuff I had others do. The animation and voice over. I will do more where I do all the pieces and with the Grumo videos it is not hard at all. For this video I wanted it polished.

What was the simplest part?
None of it really. It was an adventure.

Where did you find the music?
My animator recommended it

How did the Grumo course help you?
The course was fantastic. My animator said he had never received such a script and storyboard.

What other places online have helped you learn to put together this demo video?
Of course Youtube searching for informational videos. But the samples on the grumo site where where I got the understanding of how folks were doing them.
