Beverley Eve took our demo video course and produced the following explainer video for her new startup VoteMyLink.

Beverley explains how was the process of creating her first demo video with the help of animator James Williams:
How long did it take to put together?
It took us about a week to do the course and come up with the script. Then we had to find the animator and voice artist. I did the drawings myself and the animator then took about a month , working around a number of other projects, to put the video together. We had 2 re-edits and that was it. So all in all I’d say about 5 weeks. How did you record the voice over?
We recorded the voice over on my friends laptop with a Snowball Mic and a homemade pop screen (stockings stretched over a clothes hanger). It was a quiet secluded room but a bit echoey, I do wish we’d done the blanket thing, but a friend was already doing us a favour by doing the voice over for free so I didn’t want to push it! You live and learn 😉What was the hardest part?
Writing the script. Especially being critical towards our work and knowing when to let things go. The course REALLY helped with this stage- we took the process of ‘scoring’ each bit quite seriously.Having done the video we realised that, as the vision and the idea of our business was ours we were probably the best people to have written the script, however we couldn’t have accomplished this without your course and your amazing teaching!
What was the simplest part?
Once we had the script in place and the over-all idea, things like the sound effects and music fell into place quite effortlessly.Where did you find the music?
Our animator actually found the music. I think he got it from a place called Audio Jungle. How did the Grumo course help you?
The structure and focus it gave us was in-valuable. None of us had done ANYTHING like this before and we had no idea where to begin. The course seemed to break the process down into manageable bite size chunks and de-mistify what was an otherwise cryptic venture! In other words, it made the process simple and do-able 🙂How did you find out about Grumo?
We were searching the net for videos we liked and that we thought were memorable, simple and funny. A few different ones lead us back to Grumo, so we knew we’d found our guy. Budget being limited we were thrilled to find there was a ‘shoe-string’ alternative. What other places online have helped you learn to put together this demo video?
To be honest, once we got the course we felt so satisfied and accomplished so much that we didn’t feel the need to look else-where, we just got on with it.
We will recommend you to anyone that wants to do their own animated video.
Thanks a lot for taking our course Beverley, I think you and James created an awesome demo video!
